Childhood
I was born on 21st June,1986 to Surendra Lama and Bishnu Maya Lama at Khatripauwa, Naubise 4 Dhading. I have two elder brothers and a sister and all of us spent our childhood days in Dhading itself. I began my education from Shree Chandika Devi School, Kathmandu which was pretty near to where we lived in spite of being in a different district altogether. After the 8th grade, I shifted to Mangalodaya Ma. Bi during which time I lost my father. I completed my SLC and started working at the tax office. For my further academics, I joined RR College and completed my bachelors as well. I now intend to take a break for a year to concentrate more on my music. Though I have no special memory of my childhood, I do remember people from the neighborhood saying that I would be an artists one day.
Entry Into Music
Professionally, it was just after winning the title of Nepali Tara 2. Well, I used to participate at different musical competitions ever since I was a small child and the interests were further compounded when I participated at the special episode of Timro Sur Mero Geet (a talent hunt competition). I joined vocal classes at Do Re Mi, Sangeet Pathshala in Jamal where I also took classes on tabala for a year. I am still taking vocal classes under the guidance of Rabin Das Shrestha. Prior to him, I had the opportunity to
learn music under the supervision of Bhanu Bhakta Dhakal and Ishwor Amatya. Just to let you know, I had also participated at the first edition of Nepali Tara but could not do well because of my health condition then. I am happy to state that I have had quite a lot of experiences as far as competitions are concerned. I was able to also bag the ‘Swor Sangam’ conducted by Image FM twice in a row. All in all, I would say that it has been a fantastic learning phase during the past couple of years.
I recorded my first song ‘Baani Parecha’ composed by Satya and Swaroop Acharya for the Nepali Tara album on which all the top ten finalists had also contributed. Nepali Tara 2 provided me with the break and the platform thanks to the support of Nepali well-wishers from all over the world. However, comparing our reality based talent hunt shows with that of the Indian Idol would not be a fair deal. We lack behind in every department; most importantly the technical and the financial aspects. I am currently working on preparing an album with the entire Nepali Tara 2 team and it should be out in the stands within two months. It has contributions from various composers and lyricists. So look out for it and I am confident that the audience will like it.
Me/Myself
Most people who have met and spent some time with me say that I am cool and friendly by nature. I try to think and be positive most of the time and suggest the same to others as well. I prefer to listen to music most of the time. I believe that life is a gift from the gods and we have been designated for a certain duration on this earth to do good to one and all and I would like to practice this as much as I can.
Love & Marriage
I seriously have no experience with love. Everybody has different opinions about it and their perception towards life and so is it with me. I feel love has no definition. It is beyond any explanation. I would say that it is an understanding, the company and the trust between two willing partners. Well, I am not very mature enough nor do I have the experience to talk about love. As far as marriage goes, it is not necessary in my perception. If a couple wants to spend the rest of their lives together, they ought to give it a serious thought and then only commit themselves.
