CHILDHOOD
I was born on February 18, 1982 in Morhang, Terhathum. My father Dal Narayan Limbu is a retired British Army personnel and my mom is Khin Maya Limbu. I have two other siblings -- an elder brother and an elder sister. I am the youngest in the family!
I spent my childhood in many places. Initially, I was in Terhathum, then Dharan and then moved to Kathmandu, Hong Kong and Brunei. Hence, I did my schooling in numerous places. At first, I was admitted at Gorkha Children School, Hong Kong. By the time I was in class five I had already been to various schools in Hong Kong, Dharan and Kathmandu. I studied at Bijaypur, Dharan till class eight. I also studied at RIBS School. I did my O levels from A J Wilde Institute. However, I have yet not been able to complete my A levels studies but did manage to study film making from Institute of Performing Film and Arts. I have been told that as a kid I was of a simple nature...normal as any kid growing up in the
neighborhood and I simply used to love playing football.
ENTRY INTO THE MUSIC FIELD
I don't have much of a musical environment at home. To be honest, in the beginning, I didn't have much interest in it at all! Nevertheless, I used to enjoy listening to them. While in school I never participated in any functions. I don't have any formal education in music neither did I think that I would seriously start singing in the future. While studying in class eight in Dharan, I learnt to play the guitar along with some of my friends. Most of the time, we used to form a group and just hang around strumming our guitars. I was not very good at it though! But things soon changed. I was studying at RIBS school when I first met Sudip Gurung. For fun, we started playing music together! Some of the songs that we did were pretty nice and it was then that talk regarding recording those numbers popped up. The other friends also suggested us to give it a shot since they believed that the songs were good and we followed their advice.
In 2002, we recorded our first song titled "Dosh" at Music Work. After we completed the recording of all the tracks, we named the album 'Aastha'. Now, this very name of our album turned out to be defining us as a band! Songs from this album like "Harpal" and "Yek Mauka" became massive hits and the music videos that we had prepared were also highly appreciated by people. 'Aastha' came to the market under the banner of SAV and after three months of its release Sudip left for London. After this, I released my solo album 'Aatma'. Songs on it like "Aatma", "Eklai" and "Timi Aaunu" among others were also popular. Recently, I released my new album -- 'Aartha' and the music video of a song from this album "Aantim Maya" is made by myself. Compared to my previous albums, music on this album are more powerful. I have also included a song, which is in the Limbu language. It is titled as "Kheney Numa Kewa". Besides my own albums, I have also sung for few other collection albums. I have done stage shows in Dharan, Kathmandu, Pokhara, Butwal and Hong Kong. In 2003, I was able to get into the nomination list of Best New Artist category at the annual Hits FM Music Awards. In the music video award organized by Channel Nepal, my music video of "Ek Mauka" was able to get in the nomination list as well. Also at Hits FM Music Award, the music video of "Timi Aaunu" was listed in the nomination list of Best Music Video Category.
Apart from all of these, I am also involved in making music videos of my songs. The videos that I have directed so far are "Aatma", "Timi Aaunu", "Garho Garhai Cha" and "Aantim Maya". Now, I am also thinking on making music videos of other artists.
ME/MYSELF
More than blabbering about myself, it would make relevant sense if others defined me. Hence, if I have to talk about my good aspects, I simply cannot do that! My negative aspect is that my mind keeps on changing! I don't have patience! At times, I do get pissed off but I know how to control that!
LOVE AND MARRIAGE
Love is an understanding. I think it is all about feelings! On the other hand, marriage is commitment. Marriage is necessary in everyone's life. As of now, I have no plans to settle down! In life, one meets many people from different walks of life and at the same time, they also have to bid goodbye to many of them. While one meet someone for the first time or falls in love, there is a certain excitement and if this excitement does not last long then there is no meaning of being in that particular relationship. Incidences like these have happened in my life as well. At first, we got along pretty well and with time even the smallest things brought misunderstanding between us. Those misunderstandings only ruined our relation. Until now, I have not fraud anyone or played with the sentiments of others. Now, I am in a relation and it's so wonderful. This happened to be the most exciting thing in my life. The excitement that I had during the first time that I met her is still the same. At times, we do quarrel but I get a feeling that our relationship is getting stronger by the day. I think we compliment each other well and I feel that if my fans see us together, they will also be happy for us. The Limbu song -- "Kheney Numa Kewa" --, which I have done for the first time in my life is dedicated to her and this is the first time that I've dedicated a song to anybody, otherwise I'd always been doing songs for myself!
