Childhood
I was born on 23rd March, 1981 in Chabahil to Deepak and Sangita Nepal. I have an elder brother too. I spent most of my days as a kid in Kathamndu itself. I am told that I was a little shy with new acquantances, but quite talkative and rather naughty at times. I do not remember too many incidents of my childhood days, however, I do vividly remember an incident when I fell off the window of a second floor when I was three years old. My grandfather immediately took me to the hospital thus, saving my life in the process. It still gives the shivers when I think of it. I began my studies from Shahid Smarak School and after completing my SLC joined NIST at the Administration faculty followed by my BBS and MBS from Shankardev Campus.
Entry Into Music
I have always been interested in music…right from an early age and started performing when I was just in class three. I loved listening to Deep Shrestha and Nabin K. Bhattarai as I was growing up besides my interests in painting and making statues. I was encouraged to take up singing after I won an award in school and then started learning the guitar when I was in class six. I started working at TNT while simultaneously pursuing my studies. It was during this time at a picnic that I first met up with Kuber Khadki and in collaboration with him, I recorded my first rap song ‘Mayako Mannai Jitera’. I have been hugely inspired by the rapper 2Pac Shakur because of the fact that his songs are very realistic. It was his music that ignited my interest in rap and thus began my involvement in ‘underground rap music’. My cousin brother too was contemplating in releasing an album during that time and I wanted to do one too. So, Manoj Sharma and myself thought of doing an album together. It’s just been a while that we released ‘Rap Game’ under the banner of Reeyaz Music and the music video of the song ‘Timi Tyesai Lajayo’ is being widely appreciated. We plan to make another one on the song ‘True Story’ soon. Actually, we have incorporated the music arrangements of internationally renowned artists such as Lazy Boy and DJ AJ and wanted to remix Swor Samrat Narayan Gopal’s ‘Aakha Chopi Narau Bhani’ but did not get the permission to do so. Instead we opted for Robin Sharma’s ‘Timi Tyesai Lajayo’and I think it was a good decision.
So far, I have contributed the rap portions to the songs of Kris KC, DJ Yuwa’s ‘Speed’, Sitaram Pokhrel, DJ Raju, Kranti Ale, Mausami Gurung, Nepsydaz, Axix and Ramchandra Kafle. Just recently Om Bikram Bista apprached me to do the rap on his song ‘Barhah Bise Bazaarai Ma’ and it was one of the proudest moments of my live. I have also performed at numerous events in Kathmandu, Narayanghat, Dharan and Simara among other places. I have now begun working on my solo album which shall incorporate both rap and melodies. Two songs from it have already been completed and things are going good at the moment.
Me/Myself
People seem to like hanging out with me. Maybe it is because of my friendly nature. I do not hide anything from anybody and have the habit of speaking my mind out. I like to also believe that I am a helpful person. One of my bad habits it that I smoke a lot which I have been trying to get rid of. I take things rather easy. I get up very late in the morning and yes, I tend to get angry real fast at any little thing. I need to seriously work on all these drawbacks.
Love & Marriage
Love is the understanding between two souls. It is a feeling that comes from the bottom of your heart. It can be genuinely felt and one needs to also struggle a little to keep the spark alive besides it requiring a lot of trust between the parties concerned. Marriage, for me is a different attachment with the opposite sex. I have been married to Sanjokta Aryal for the past two years now through an ‘arranged’ marriage and so far, I am enjoying every moment of it.
